Shard of the Serpent

Description:

A Mustafarian treasure hunter named Ikt found a strange little shard with a flaw shaped like a serpent on it. Shortly afterwards, Ikt was attacked and had the shard stolen from him. You've agreed to assist him in finding the thief and recover his lost shard.

Recommended combat levels: 75 and higher

Begin this quest by talking to Ikt at (/way mustafar 365 -1155) in the cantina of the Mensix Mining Facility.

Conversation with Ikt[]

Ikt: Hey there, you available for some employment?
PC: I might be. What is the job?
Ikt: I need help hunting down a thief.
PC: I might be interested in that. What did he steal?
Ikt: I found this little piece of crystal out in some old ruins. It had an interesting flaw in it that looked like a snake. As I hadn't gone through all the ruins yet, I decided to spend the night and continue in the morning. I was awoken in the middle of the night and caught a glimpse of someone running off in to the dark. As I looked through my belongings, I found the little crystal to be missing.
PC: It will be hard to track the thief down with just that information...
Ikt: The next morning, I searched around the ruins some more before heading back to town. I could have sworn that I was being watched the whole time but couldn't see anyone. I think whoever it was that stole it is still out there.
PC: Hopefully the thief will still be there. How do I find the ruins?
Ikt: I'm sure you've seen the large volcano in the center of the continent. The ruins are to the west of that, across the river of molten lava.
PC: Okay, I will do my best. Anything else I should know?
Ikt: I don't even care that much about the little crystal, but no one steals from Ikt and gets away with it! That's all...

Tracing back the steps[]

Head to the ruins where Ikt found the small shard. He said they were located West of the giant volcano in the center of the continent, just across the lava river.

Ikt will tell a tale of how a shard belonging to him was stolen by a mysterious thief. He does not provide a waypoint but instructs you to head to the Southern Jedi Ruins, west of the volcano in the center of the continent, just across the lava river.

The hunt begins[]

This must be the location that Ikt was talking about. Search the ruins and the areas surrounding it and see if you can find any trace of the mysterious thief.

Then proceed to the altar ruins at just past the initial camp. Use the radial menu to closely inspect the altar. You are then instructed to wait for the thief to return.

Hideout?

This looks like an altar of some kind. It has a carved-out symbol of what appears to be a serpent on it. Maybe this is where the thief is hiding... Wait and see if they come back.

Stakeout[]

This could be where the thief went to. Wait for them to come back.

Shortly thereafter (maybe 15–30 seconds) Illiv Orfa will spawn. You must converse with her regarding the stolen shard.

Illiv Orfa has been reported as bugged a number of times. She may initially appear as a stiff-arm model attempting to attack you; she does not, however, appear to deal damage in this state. After a while, she will revert to a stage in which you can converse with her.

Conversation with Illiv Orfa[]

Illiv Orfa: Well, hello there, sweetie. What are you doing all the way out here?
PC: I could say the same to you, M'Lady...
Illiv Orfa: True...but I do believe I asked first.
PC: I guess so. I'm out looking for something a friend lost.
Illiv Orfa: Oh really? Well, I've been here for a while. If you tell me what it is, maybe I've seen it?
PC: Well, it was stolen from him, so I'm not sure I can trust you.
Illiv Orfa: You can't trust little old me? Have you had any luck so far? I might be your best bet, sweetie.
PC: I suppose you are right. It's a little crystal shard.
Illiv Orfa: You may have to be a bit more specific.
PC: Yes, of course. It has a small flaw on it -- the shape of a snake.
Illiv Orfa: Oh really? Yeah, I've seen that.
PC: Where did you see it?
Illiv Orfa: Let me think, sweetie... Oh yeah, the last time I saw it, it was in my pocket.
PC: I thought so. If you give it back, I'll forget this ever happened.
Illiv Orfa: I'm afraid I can't do that, cutie.
PC: Why not? Don't make this any harder than it needs to be.
Illiv Orfa: Because I need it, sweetie. I'm also afraid that I can't let you leave now. My apologies, but this will have to be your burial ground.
PC: Threats will get you nowhere.
Illiv Orfa: Very well. We shall see how action works then!

Eventually she will attack you. Be cautious, she is CL 84 and wields a lightsaber. After defeating Illiv Orfa you will be told that you have found the stolen shard.

Shard retrieved

You find the shard on the corpse of the mysterious thief. When you touch the crystal you hear a faint, hissing voice, "...the altar...we wish to be placed on the altar." Maybe you should try and see if it fits into the indentation on the altar?

Return to the altar and use the radial menu to insert this shard.

Secret compartment

As you insert the shard into the indentation on the altar, a small, hidden compartment flips open. Inside, you find another shard that looks almost exactly the same as the first. You should take it back to Ikt.

Return to Ikt in the Mensix cantina for your reward.

Ikt: There you are. Have you had any luck?
PC: Indeed! I found the thief and retrieved the shard.
Ikt: What about the thief?
PC: I had no choice. She forced me to kill her...
Ikt: That is excellent news! No one steals from Ikt and gets away with it. No one!
PC: Alright... Well, I have your shard, plus another one that I found.
Ikt: Oh yeah, the shard. And another one, you say. Strange little things, they seem to fit together. Odd, I can't pull them apart again. Anyway, I don't want them. Take them. And, of course, here's your payment for a job well done.
PC: You don't even want it back?
Ikt: No, the shard wasn't very interesting, but as I said, no one...
PC: ...steals from Ikt and gets away with it. Yeah I get it.
Ikt: That's right and don't you forget it!
