The Pylon is the main objective of the Construction Phase of the City Invasion system. Pylons spawn in predetermined locations in the contested cities and around the attacking camps.
Any profession can add resources to the Pylons to increase the power and defensive/offensive skills of the units that will spawn in place of the Pylon once the Invasion Phase commences. A player needs to have Tools in their inventory that can only be crafted by Traders. One charge of the Tool is consumed each time a player adds resources to a Pylon.
The following number of resources that are added to a Pylon determine its level:
- Level 0 Pylon - 0 resources used.
- Level 1 Pylon - 1 to 49 resources used.
- Level 2 Pylon - 50 to 99 resources used.
- Level 3 Pylon - 100 resources used.
If a Pylon remains at level 0, it will disappear at the start of the Invasion Phase.
There are six different types of Pylon, and each type brings a different type of combat unit into the Invasion. A different icon hovering above the pylons shows which of the types it is. The types are:
- Soldier Patrol Pylons - Spawns a continuous stream of NPCs to aid in the battle - shown with a Helmet icon.
- Vehicle Patrol Pylons - Spawns vehicles that are considerably more lethal than the Soldiers - shown with a Terminal icon.
- Siege Vehicle Patrol Pylon - Spawns Rebel Hailfire Driods or Imperial AT-ATs (only spawn at a Level 3 Pylon) - shown with the same Terminal icon.
- Barricade Pylon - Spawns a barricade that defends units behind it by giving them a defensive buff - shown with a Barricade icon.
- Turret Pylon - Spawns an AI controlled turret that fires on enemy units - shown with a Gun Barrel or Turret Dish icon.
- Tower Pylon - Spawns a watch tower that grants intelligence to nearby NPCs and offers combat missions to players - shown with a Tower icon.
Clicking on a Pylon starts the process of adding resources to that Pylon and also starts a Construction Mission. Anyone can build up pylons as long as they have the relevant Construction Tools in their inventory.
Adding resources to a Pylon takes ten seconds, but this time is increased with Fatigue. Fatigue is a stackable debuff that adds a second to the construction timer for every ten points of fatigue that a player gains. Non-Traders gain fatigue five times faster than Traders. Entertainers can cure fatigue in the same way that they cure Cloning Sickness.
