Star Wars Lore

A very tough creature with an extremely slow metabolism that survives on minimal food resources, including the bark of decaying trees. The mouf thrives in the Dead Forest region of Kashyyyk, and is hunted by the Sayormi tribes for their hide. The hide of a mature mouf provides excellent insulation and is used by the Sayormi to reinforce their battle armor.
