Speak with Herman Pate[]
Vance Groten needs you to get a ring back he lost in a game of cards. He sends you to speak with Herman Pate (4871 -1442).
Conversation with Herman Pate[]
Herman Pate: Yeah? Can I help you with something?
PC: I'm here for Vance's ring.
Herman Pate: Ring? What ring?
PC: The ring he lost to you as a marker in a sabacc game?
Herman Pate: Oh, right. That one. I, er, don't have it any more.
PC: Then where is it?
Herman Pate: I, er, kind of used it to pay off a debt. This was before Vance paid me, which I never really thought he would do. There were some spice smugglers I owed some money to. Janelle, their leader, seemed to really like the ring, and offered to overlook my late payments in exchange for the ring.
PC: So how do I get the ring back?
Herman Pate: I guess you'll have to go get it from the smugglers. They're called Mountaintop smugglers. Their leader is Janelle. You'll have to go fight them to get the ring back. And if you win, maybe I won't have to pay any of the rest of what I owe them.
PC: I see. I'll go fight the Mountaintop smugglers.
Herman Pate: Right. Good luck then.
Battle on the Mountaintop[]
Unfortunately, Herman gave the ring away to pay off his own debt. So now you need to go get it back from its new owners. Go to the Mountaintop Smuggler Camp (5515 -2226) and defeat the following:
- 11 Mountaintop Spice Runners (CL28)
- 12 Mountaintop Smugglers (CL27)
Defeat Janelle and Get Vance's Ring[]
Then, defeat Janelle, the Mountaintop Smuggler Chief (CL30)
Return to Vance[]
Once Janelle is dead, return and speak to Vance Groten to complete the Quest.
Conversation with Vance Groten[]
Vance Groten: You got my ring back! Thank you! Oh, about the security beacon. I finished fixing it, but it was stolen.
PC: Stolen? By who?
Vance Groten: A group of mercenaries from the area, Strehkforce mercenaries. They're commanded by Evan Strehk and Maris Fahrs. Robbery isn't usually their thing, but for some reason they wanted that beacon. I'm afraid you'll have to go take it back from them.
PC: Sounds like I have no choice.
Vance Groten: Unfortunately, no. I'm truly sorry about this, but I was out numbered.
