Question Jareck about his Artwork[]

A secluded home in a mountain valley

A secluded home in a mountain valley

While Commander Talte investigates the items you have found, you speak with Jareck Arned. The hermit defends his owning such items, saying that he makes quite a lot of money and trades for them, and that not living in the city doesn't mean he has no style.

Conversation with Jareck Arned[]

Jareck Arned: Is there something else that you need?
PC: What's with the decorations here?
Jareck Arned: You think just because I don't choose to live in a city, that I don't have a sense of style?
PC: No, of course not, but where do you get these things?
Jareck Arned: I trade for some items, like the paintings and holo images. I also make quite a bit myself. All you need is the right equipment.
PC: I see.
Jareck Arned: Good.

Commander Talte: Angela didn't recognize any of the pieces. But, I found matches in the CorSec database and they are tied to several kidnappings. It's going to trial very soon and I need more information.

Talk to Jareck Arned[]

Talte gets back to you - Angela does not recognize any of the items, but the CorSec database has listings of several of them, and they are in fact connected with kidnappings, which are soon going to trial. He asks you to try to get more information out of Arned.

Conversation with Jareck Arned[]

Jareck Arned: Now what?
PC: Some of your art comes from kidnap victims!
Jareck Arned: It...what?! Kidnap victims?!  That's impossible!
PC: Is there anything else you want to tell me?
Jareck Arned: As I said, I bought most of these items from a traveling craftsman. But wait...one of the art pieces was in two parts. I found it not far from here. Yesterday, I think. I didn't touch the other piece. I'll  give you the location if you want to look there.

When you tell him that some of the art is connected with kidnappings, he seems genuinely shocked. He tells you that he bought most of the items from a travelling craftsman, but that one of them he found recently in the mountains, which was in two pieces.

Go to the Meeting Spot / Search the Area[]

Jareck Arned happily gives you the location of the other piece, which he did not keep. This is the spot (3880 6213) where he met with the traders recently. When you arrive, you find a bit of broken art, with bloody fingerprints that do not match the hermit's.

Information Found[]

This art piece has both blood and fingerprints on it. The fingerprints on the art do not match the hermit's fingerprints.

Commander Talte: I've had you chasing a dead lead. Another group of people disappeared. I'll send you the coordinates. Go there now.

Commander Talte contacts you - you've been chasing a dead lead, and another group has vanished! He uploads the location and tells you to rush there at once.
