Located in the Abandoned Rebel Base on Dantooine, Brother Vrovel is the trainer and mission giver for Tier 2 Alliance Starfighter Pilots of the Vortex Squadron.
/way dantooine -6826 5539 Brother Vrovel
To be able to train, pilots must have at least 60,000 Space XP and must finish the missions that Brother Vrovel gives them. If you have rights to land at the Abandoned Rebel Base, the Starship terminal is located at waypoint (/way -6790 5554) in a small bunker.
Note: for the ability to land at the Abandoned Rebel Base through a special landing permission, you must complete a couple Tier 2 missions for the Dantooine Space Station.
Pilot Missions[]
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: You are %TU, the new pilot the navy sent us? Good, you couldn't have come at a better time. I am Vrovel. We are a part of the Rebel Alliance called the Vortex. We have several missions that require your assistance. But first I would like to see how well you can work with us. I have some duty work for you.
PC: The Vortex? I've never heard of you before.
Brother Vrovel: I'm not surprised. I will go in to more detail of what it is we do later, but we need to know how well you can work with us before we can give out any information on our operations here.
PC: These high-risk missions? High-risk means more pay right?
Brother Vrovel: We are not bounty hunters! You will be paid your regular salary, and at times you can keep things you collect from the enemy. Now that we have that squared away, are you ready to pick your task?
PC: Okay okay, no need to get upset. What are my options?
Brother Vrovel: We have some freighters requiring escort past Imperial patrols. We also have a few opportunities to hijack Imperial ships, and of course we could launch some guerilla strikes on Imperial Scout patrols. We want you to assist with these duties until we feel you have enough experience to proceed with your training. But they operate on a volunteer basis and can be aborted at any time.
Get Information Needed to Kidnap Imperial Scientist[]
Prerequisites:
- Training in Multi-Role Craft
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: There you are! Just in time. This is the real deal, %NU. We have learned that the Empire is starting a new research project. It is of particular interest to us. A Rebel Officer on Lok has asked us to send a pilot to help retrieve more information.
PC: Wait! You promised to tell me what the Vortex is about.
Brother Vrovel: There is no time now, my young friend. I will give you the answers soon. But for now, your presence is needed in the Lok system, %TU.
PC: Alright, but what is this research project?
Brother Vrovel: We have very little information, which is where you come in, my friend. You have to travel to the Lok system immediately.
PC: Alright. Who do I meet and where?
Brother Vrovel: There's a Rebel operative named Finn Darktrin stationed at Lok. He will rendezvous with you. He has information on the location and ship signature of an Imperial shuttle. It's carrying a scientist - and he is working on this project. We need to capture that scientist and interrogate him.
PC: Consider it done, sir.
Brother Vrovel: Excellent. May the force be with you, %TU.
Lok system: Get information needed to kidnap Imperial scientist[]
Description:
- The Vortex is sending you to the Lok system. There you will meet up with a Rebel officer that has the location of an Imperial scientist that you need to kidnap.
Lok System: jump to Rebellion Blaze
Head to the waypoint given. It is an escort mission for a YT-1300. Destination is about 10k out from space station. Once there wait for shuttle to hyper in, and follow it. You may have a brief ambush from Tier 2 Corsair X-Wings.
Lok system: Kidnap the Imperial scientist[]
Description:
- Now that you have the location of the Imperial shuttle, your orders are to intercept it and disable it. You will then proceed to launch a space assault droid on to its hull so that it can take control of the ship.
You're sent to a waypoint about 3000m away to inspect an Imperial Shuttle. Simply target the Imperial Lambda Shuttle and hit I to inspect.
Lok system: Escape the trap! Destroy all Imperial Ships in the vicinity[]
Description:
- The Imperial Inquisition is trying to trick you. There's no scientist on that shuttle. As soon as they found out that you spotted their setup Imperial fighters attacked you. Eliminate them all!
You are immediately attacked by 2 tier TIE Interceptors. Destroy them and head back to Brother Vrovel to update.
Rewards:
- Incom "K-77" Shield Generator
- 5000 Credits
- 82 Rebel faction points
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Glad to have you back in one piece, %NU. We were worried there for a while. It's apparent that someone set you up. We are trying to figure out who that someone is. The Inquisitor onboard the ship was probably going to try and force you to bring him to me. Anyway, here's your completion bonus.
PC: Thank you, sir. So what happens now?
Brother Vrovel: Well, even though it was a setup, it had some truth to it and we might have found a second source from which to retrieve the information.
PC: So when do I take off?
Brother Vrovel: Not yet, my friend. We are still analyzing our information. Take on a few duties and get some more experience under your belt.
You must earn 60,000 more space XP before you can train in your second tier 2 skill and take his second mission.
Bring research data to scientist[]
Prerequisites:
- Training in Intermediate Alliance Starship Ordnance
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Great! I was looking for you, %NU. We've made a breakthrough. We've analyzed the Imperial research project information. It seems to include something about Force Crystals. We are not sure what it's all about yet, but that's what the material that their 'science team' has been extracting from Dantooine caves.
PC: So what is my part in this, sir?
Brother Vrovel: We have very little information. But we've received word from one of Nym's smugglers in the Yavin system. He was examining some of the debris left from the Empire's destroyed space station. (Remember that explosion?) He apparently found some data there, relating to this same project.
PC: Sounds good. Go on, sir.
Brother Vrovel: You need to smuggle our data to Yavin and meet up with one of our scientists who is stationed there. He has purchased the smuggler's information. He will try to make sense of the different pieces of data.
PC: I will do my best, sir.
Brother Vrovel: Be careful. If this data falls into the hands of the Empire, it is lost forever. Stay sharp out there, %NU.
Yavin system: Bring research data to scientist[]
Description:
- Your orders are to travel to meet up with one of the Vortex scientists at a space station with the Imperial data. He's there purchasing some additional information from a smuggler. The Vortex hope that the two pieces of data can be made sense out of by the scientist when combined.
This mission requires the pilot to head to the Yavin System. This system is quite dangerous and contains both Imperial and Rebel ships ranging from Tier 2 to Tier 4.
Yavin System: jump to Crimson Flare.
Travel to the meeting point and rendezvous with a tier 2 Z-95 rebel scientist. Follow him and escort through the system. You'll be attacked by continuous waves of TIE Fighters and Interceptors, some Tier 2, and a few Tier 3.
Rewards:
- Mon Calamari "D-22" Droid Interface
- 5000 Credits
- 75 Rebel faction points
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Fantastic performance, %NU! We will soon find out what this is all about and how we can disrupt the Empire's plans.
PC: Thank you, sir. What happens now?
Brother Vrovel: You should get some rest and then fly some duties while we put our plans together. Here's your completion bonus for a job well done. See you soon, %NU.
Rescue the smuggler[]
Prerequisites:
- Training in Space Combat Techniques
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: We have a problem, %NU. The smuggler that sold you the information in Yavin has been captured by the Empire. They are transporting him to an interrogator as we speak. We have to save him!
PC: Where is he?
Brother Vrovel: He's being transported from Yavin 4 right now. You need to disable his prison transport and unlock his energy cell by hacking into the ship's computer. Then he can take control of the ship and head for safety. Under no circumstances can he fall into Empire hands - even if it means his death. Do I make myself clear?
PC: Killing civilians is not my style, Vrovel.
Brother Vrovel: Then you better save him, %NU! This pains me as well, but under no circumstances can the Empire learn how much we know about their research project!
PC: Understood.
Brother Vrovel: Good. Intercept his prison transport at this location in the Yavin system. Good luck, and may the Force be with you, %TU.
Yavin system: Rescue the smuggler[]
Description:
- The smuggler is currently being transported to the Yavin Imperial fleet for interrogation. It is your duty to make sure that he never gets there. Your first option is to disable the prison vessel and hack its computer to open the prisoners cells so they can take over the ship. Your second option, well hopefully it will never come to that.
Yavin System: jump to Crimson Flare.
This is a disable and then escort mission. The target is an Imperial freighter, and will appear about 5k from where you spawn into the Yavin System. The target is guarded by a Tier 2 Elite Guard Imperial Interceptor. You need to disable the target (by using [ or ] to target the engine or reactor). Once the target is disabled, you will need to wait a few moments while the ship is overtaken by the prisoners. Once that happens, you will need to escort the ship. During the escort, only one more Tier 2 Imperial Interceptor will spawn. The greatest threat is from non-mission Imperial ships.
Rewards:
- Novaldex Hypernova Starship Booster
- 5000 Credits
- 75 Rebel faction points
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: I understand that the smuggler arrived safely at Lok. Very well done, %NU. I'm glad we didn't have to take any extreme measures. Here's your completion bonus. Get some rest. You deserve it.
PC: Thank you, sir. I'll be back shortly.
Brother Vrovel: Good. %NU, the Alliance is lucky to have you.
Steal location of Imperial Research Project[]
Prerequisites:
- Training in Engineering Algorithms
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Perfect timing, %NU. We are ready for the next phase of our mission. We have finally learned what this project is all about - AND we've figured out a way to stop it.
PC: Finally! What is it all about?
Brother Vrovel: The Empire is creating a new type of star fighter. It is a combination of a pilot and his ship. The technicians meld the pilot into the ship with cybernetics. They become one. The Force crystals keep the abomination alive. The crystals do other things as well; we don't fully understand them yet.
PC: That's madness! Pilots give up their lives to fly that thing?
Brother Vrovel: I doubt that they volunteer for it, %NU... This has to be stopped, for the good of the galaxy and all that is just. We need to find out where this criminal activity takes place. We may have a lead.
PC: What is the plan?
Brother Vrovel: The SpyNet has identified one of the officers working on this project. They've even provided us with his travel route. He's on his way to the Star Destroyer in the Dantooine system. We have laid out an intercept course. You need to disable his shuttle. You can find the starting location in your onboard nav computer.
PC: Consider it done.
Brother Vrovel: I hope so %NU, for all of us. Here are the intercept coordinates. If he's not there, search the nearby area and pray that he didn't get past you. Best of luck, my friend.
Dantooine system: Steal location of Imperial Research Project[]
Description:
- Your orders are to ambush the Imperial Officers shuttle and get the location of where the ship took off from by hacking its onboard computer.
Once you launch into the Dantooine System, you are given a waypoint to search for the Imperial Lambda Shuttle. It's a Tier 2 ship with a rear weapon that packs a punch. You must disable its engine (disable weapon 1, too) then dock with it to get the information for mission. It is guarded by three Tier 2 Elite Guard TIE Interceptors. When finished docking, return to Brother Vrovel.
Rewards:
- Taim & Bak "Ion Driver"
- 5000 Credits
- 75 Rebel faction points
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: We have it within our grasp, thanks to you, %NU. Outstanding job up there. Rest up and get ready for the final step. It's time to shut this Imperial operation down for good!
PC: Thank you, sir. It was a close call.
Brother Vrovel: Indeed %NU. Here's the completion bonus. You've earned every last bit of it. Come back later. Hopefully by then, the plan of attack will be completed.
Brother Vrovel then sends you to speak to Brother Ezkiel.
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Good to see you, %NU. I've really enjoyed our time together. But now I'm placing you under the command of Brother Ezkiel. You can find him right over there. He will continue your guidance in the Vortex. Stay in touch, my friend!
Duty missions[]
Conversation with Brother Vrovel[]
Brother Vrovel: Good to see you, %NU. Ready to hear the list of active duties?
PC: Yes sir.
PC: I'll help you with some escort tasks. / Hijacking Imperial ships! That sounds exciting. / Not many can stand toe-to-toe in a dogfight with me. Where are these guys?
Dantooine system: Duty mission: Escort Rebel Smugglers[]
Description:
- Various Alliance smugglers need a safe escort and it's your job to provide them with it. When you feel that you have exhausted your ship, yourself or that you have enough experience to continue your training, you can return to base at anytime.
Dantooine system: Duty mission: Capture Imperial ships[]
Description:
- To level the war against the Empire a bit more we have decided to try and steal some of their fighter ships. They will also prove useful in infiltration and terror attacks against the Imperial fleet. Your ship is armed with an automated space assault droid that will take control of the enemy ship once you have disabled it. When you feel that you have exhausted your ship, yourself or that you have enough experience to continue your training, you can return to base at anytime.
Dantooine system: Duty mission: Attack Imperial Patrols[]
Description:
- You are ordered to assist in the attacks on Imperial patrols. When you feel that you have exhausted your ship, yourself or that you have enough experience to continue your training, you can return to base at anytime.
