Star Wars Lore[]

B2 super battle droids, more commonly known simply as super battle droids, supers, or SBDs, were upgraded versions of the B1 battle droids used first by the Trade Federation during the Battle of Naboo and later by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Super battle droids saw use throughout the Clone Wars as soldiers for the Confederacy along with its smaller cousins and the dreaded droidekas. Though the first super battle droids seen on Geonosis wore an unpainted dull silver tone, many of the droids used in later battles of the Clone Wars were painted a metallic blue, likely to differentiate them from the bleached tan coloration the Confederacy used for its standard battle droids later in the war. Following the execution of the Separatist Council by Darth Sidious's new apprentice, Darth Vader, the B2s were de-activated, though many remained in the hands of CIS remenants, thugs, crimelords, and smugglers, often finding their way onto the black market.
