Droideka

Destroyer Droids in The Warren on Dantooine

One of several models of aggressive droids in The Shadowed Lands of Kashyyyks Rryatt Trail left behind from the Second Battle of Kashyyyk during the Clone Wars. Though nearly 25 years have passed, these droids are operational and quite lethal. Although a glitch in the program made for every Droideka now prevents them from activating the built-in shield, they are still armed with deadly weaponry. These droids are also found in other places in the galaxy, such as The Warren on Dantooine, the Geonosian Caves on Yavin 4, and several known crash sites on Lok.

Star Wars Lore[]

Droidekas, also called destroyer droids, were a type of battle droid used by the Trade Federation and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Known for their heavy deflector shields, high speed and powerful dual blaster cannons and the ability to collapse into a wheel-like figure for fast movement, a single Droideka could handle a group of Clone Troopers, without Jedi or Vehicle support. This encouraged the Clones to devise new tactics on destroying Droidekas without taking too many losses. After the Trade Federation joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, droidekas became mass-produced in Separatist droid foundries and were a common element of Confederacy armies. At the end of the Clone Wars, the droidekas were supposedly de-activated after Darth Vader's execution of the Separatist Council under the Emperor's orders. Through chance however, many of the inactive droids were discovered, and sold on the black market, sold for scrap, and even re-created on Mustafar. Due to the strength of their blasters and their built-in shields, driodekas proved to be a serious threat to Jedi, especially when in groups. A few years before the Yuuzhan Vong War, Luke Skywalker and his wife, Mara Jade Skywalker, encountered a droideka onboard the remains of the Outbound Flight Project Dreadnaughts. Even though it was decades old and not operating at its best, they still had a difficult time defeating it.
